CO CO2 SO2 H2O H The gasses released have been "cleaned up" considerably since the mid 70's with the addition of air injection pumps, cleaner fuels, lower compression, catalytic converters, electronic controls and numerous other "smog" controls. Note: Present day automobiles burn fuel cleaner than if the fuel was burned in open air - and that's a pretty good achievement!

Like abovementioned, the main gases would be Carbon dioxide and water vapour. Emissions also include Carbon Monoxide and trace amounts of Sulphur dioxide and others depending on the kind of fuel you use.

Carbon Dioxide and Monoxide + a bot of Sulphur and Led.. Nitrous too.

The main gasses are water and carbon dioxide. Its the other smaller amounts of gasses that are the problem.
