The "eye of the needle" is a passenger gate to a walled city. When the main gate is closed at night the camel has to go through the small passenger gate. It is called the eye of the needle because it is shaped like the eye of a needle.

The baggage is removed from the camel and the camel has to get on its knees and inch its way through the gate.

Rich have to do the same: Become humble, get rid of baggage, and get on their knees.

There are many ways to be wealthy. You can be rich in money, rich in good fortune, even rich in spirit. I've always understood this passage to be cautionary. The "richer" you are, the more wealth you have, the easier it can be to forget that your abundance is a gift from God. In other words, don't take God for granted.

And as far as the camel and the eye of the needle, I seem to remember an old story from Sunday school about the eye of the needle. The story is not allegorical: the eye of the needle really exists. It was the name given to a narrow secondary gate in the city of Jerusalem that was kept open, but guarded all night. If you arrived in Jerusalem after the main city gate was closed, the only way in was through the "eye of the needle". Not sure if this is true or something that a harried Sunday school teacher made up to settle a bunch of rambunctious children, but it's a neat story anyway.

Understood in the correct context it isn't so much wealth that hinders a person from getting into heaven, but how he feels about his wealth and what he does with it. If there is someone who has a lot of money and they live humbly and use their money to help the poor and needy, I am quite SURE he is going to Heaven. It's the greed that keeps the rich from Heaven, not the money.

Wealth is generally acquired by sin, and wealth is generally worshiped by the wealthy and is seen as a source of salvation. Thus, the wealthy are focused on preserving what they have and acquiring more, rather than focusing on God. Wealthy people cannot let go of their wealth, and in order to be born again a person must let go of all they have and embrace Christ. Therefore, it is easier for an animal as dumb as a camel to get into heaven than it is for a rich man who is totally focused on himself. Incidentally, animals do not go to heaven, so I hope you can see our Lord's point in making the illustration. Jesus loves you.

Wealth CAN be a hinderance to spiritual growth but doesn't have to be. This goes back to one of the commandments: Thou shalt have no other gods before me. People tend to get greedy and selfish the more riches they have. We are not to turn our backs on those in need and we will be blessed twice over. Riches aren't evil when they are honestly earned and man doesn't become so obsessed with them that he wouldn't give them up to get to Heaven. Greed is a sin and will keep us out of Heaven, not riches themselves.

If you go back and study the Old Testament, you will find that around the walls of the Holy City were walls. In these walls were gates that were very low to the ground. These gates were called "Eye of the Needle." When the Camels went through these gates they had to get down on their knees and crawl through.

Thats mean

if youre humble, nice, and rich, and you give money to the poor and help people out, you will have done more good than other people, so you would go to heaven for doing those good deeds to other people

if you are happy with life, then you most likely to go to heaven

That verse is for believers because you can't be rich in spiritual goods unless you know scripture.

Christ giving a warning to believers is not reason to turn away from the one God.

Jesus said that for a reason, but he follows that statement by saying "with God, all things are possible."

Wealth can compete for God's attention, and if often does pull people away from God.

I believe there are wealthy people who can keep the right perspective and keep their heart right with God.
