Southern Baptists are Baptists, only more so. They're a bit more conservative, uncompromising, and authoritarian, but otherwise they're pretty much the same.

Lutherans and Baptists agree on the major moral issues. There are some points of difference, however. Lutherans, for instance, believe in infant baptism, whereas Baptists don't. Also, Lutherans believe that Christ is truly present in the Eucharist, and Baptists believe it is only a symbol of Christ (that's an important difference). There is also a differerance in the end of the world beliefs. Baptists believe in the decision theology (you must make a conscious decision to accept Christ), whereas Lutherans hold to salvation being totally from God, true grace, and undeserved. This is why, at least in part, Lutherans accpet infant baptism and Baptists don't. Lutheran views have generally been held by the Church since the earliest Church writings; the Baptist views are historically much more recent.
