I work in a day care and i would like to have the real policy for outdoor trips off site. I know it is 1 to 5 but I need the "official written policy" My DNA book is a condensed version and does not show this information. I have tried the ministry of community and social services with no luck

Check in the licensing division of Human Services in your state. Usually it is under the licensing regulations section that describes the ratios. Not sure if it will tell you about specifics for off-site ratios... but generally you will want to keep your same standard for in the class or better. Enlist parent volunteers... at least that way they are in charge of their own child, which is one less that you need to be responsible for.
