The government says they are. Certainly zero tolerance zones in Texas and increased enforcement in AZ are impacting it, according to news reports. However, from what I have heard crossings are up in California, and nowadays people come there then drive into the interior.
However, the guard has only just gotten to the border in CA, so maybe it is too soon to tell.
Still what sort of a joke is it to put unarmed National Guard at the border? I read about a week ago that some National Guard saw armed men in Mexican army uniforms come across the border, but all they could do was to call the border patrol.
And then they don't even deport all the criminals CONVICTED of crimes after they do their sentence. Homeland Security estimates there will be 302,000 illegals amongst those just this year in our state and local jails where the Feds don't usually bother to deport them. Those guys take no effort at all to find, so what is going on?
Pancha - I always figured they were really sending our National Guard there as "greeters", and your cousin going there is only more evidence of that, in my opinion....
Kidding - I am sure he will do his job.

Don't expect much, it's going to take crazy numbers to really make a dent. In the end the only thing that will make a difference is reduce the opporunities available to them when they get here, and that's politically much harder to do.

So, you are asking if the troops sent to the border as support not enforcement are slowing the invasion that you have defined? HUH??

Maybe if we weren't so nice when turn them around at the border, it would make more of an impact.
