Why is it so hard for some people to believe in such things as Ghosts and Evil spirits, But not god. isn't it just as plausable to believe the world was created by God and not a Giant Explosion? I understand that there are alot of holes in the Religious Belief. But aren't there just as many in the Scientific Beliefs?

I understand where you're coming from as I too am becoming impatient with those so blind that they WILL not see.

Personally I think that the Big Bang was engendered by God AFTER He'd set parameters for ALL of Creation to follow. We call them the Laws of Physics.

And yes, there are still holes in Science's understanding. Science doesn't have its "Theory of Everything" yet. That's the one that will mathematically explain how gravity, electricity, magnetism, time and space all interact with one another. From it, the scientists hope to broaden their understanding of exactly how the universe operates under the Laws of Physics.

If Professor Stephen Hawking lives long enough science may actually GET that theory. Pray for Professor Hawking's health and longevity.

And remember, people like the familiar. They're uncomfortable with change. It challenges their sense of security. That's a perceived threat to survival in their minds so, as they can, they fight it.

Be bigger than that. Embrace it. NOT either/or, but both/and!

The thing I don't understand is this:

So, I know that scientific theory on the origin of the universe has a few holes. But I don't see how it makes sense logically, since we don't know what caused a big bang that can otherwise explain absolutely everything, to jump to "Oh, that theory isn't perfectly perfect, so let's just say it's a magic man in the sky! That will explain it!"

It just doesn't make any sense to me. I support the best theory. Just because something has a few holes still doesn't mean that I just start making up fairy tales with no foundation to support my own crazy ideas about the origin of things.

There are holes in all beliefs, and all possibilites are a possibility. I beleive in God, and maybe he caused the giant explosion. So it's the same thing basically. I also believe in guardian angels, spirits that remain instead of moving on, good spirits, bad spirits, our sixth sense, other demensions, life on other planets far removed from us, and the very real truth that mankind as intelligent and all knowing as he believes himself to be, knows very little at all.

Sorry but u r confused.

Religious belief is just that - Belief. U believe Christ died for ur sins.
U believe this because it's said so in the Bible, church etc.

Science is NOT BELIEF. Water has Hydrogen and Oxygen. This can be proved in a lab as a FACT. That becomes a TRUTH because it is so anywhere anytime any place. U do not need to BELIEVE in science but u can look for proofs until u r satisfied.

Why do you presume that "non-religious" people believe in ghosts? Why do you presume that "evil spirits" are not gods from the other side of the argument?. Of course people who don't believe in gods don't believe in demons. You need to get out more.

Like has already been posted, people want to control things around them or believe they have control. For some reason they find it easier to believe in a self creating universe (which cannot be proved ) than in a higher power consciously creating.

It's a matter of perspective. We are all conditioned by our parents. At age 6 and beyond we are conditioned by public school, which may include the conditioning of being introduced to a new religion - the religion of evolution. Many school kids are not going to question what their teachers tell them because they think highly of their teachers and in college the conditioning continues. Some even come to realize that evolution is without evidence but will continue in the religion because of peer pressure. To an extent it is the religion of the academics of most universities.

Not as many. Science is proven by facts, and religion is proven by faith. It all comes down to faith. I believe in ghosts and but I don't believe that God created the Universe, because I believe in the big bang theory, and that nature created itself.

People believe in all sorts of absurd things - mostly because they want to feel better.

The hard part is to only believe in what's real, and let ghost, vampires, and god all be consigned to the realm of mythology where they belong.
