The "Drive-by" media and the airlines seem to be giving out conflicting information for flights within the United States .I'm under the impression that absolutely no carry on items on U.S. flights . Does this include womans' purses ? Children flying alone need birth certificates ?

The TSA website states that "bags" will be hand searched at security check points and again at the gate . Do we then assume purses are allowed on board ?As of the 11th a cell is permitted ; but no word since .

The only additional restriction on flights within the US is on liquids and pastes. They must all be in your checked baggage. Exceptions are granted for prescription meds and baby milk or formula.

The general prohibition on all carry on items is only on flights to and from the UK. Flights within the US are NOT affected by this.

Check with the airline for ID requirements for children flying alone. Normally they must be checked in by a parent or legal guardian.

Birth certificates are normally only asked for if there is a question of the child's age, such as an infant under 2 riding in the parent's lap or if there is doubt as to the child's age for escort purposes. It doesn't hurt to be prepared, though. I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

Cell phones are prohibited from the time the main aircraft door is closed until the aircraft is opn the ground again after a flight.
Duke University recently published a study that says cell phones do in fact interfere with aircraft navigation signals, so I wouldn't expect to see any changes any time soon.

Still legit, as far as I know. Not allowed to use them in flight, of course.

yes for now. no woman's purses, you need to put whatever is necessary to you in a ziploc, no whatever liquids including beverages.
