Buy a 2006 model with under 5,000 miles on it. It's still under warranty and someone else already endured the depreciation that occurs the second you drive a brand new car off the lot. That way you can either save a lot of money or step up a class in the type of car you buy.

Saturns, plus they get good gas millage but are a pain to fix if needed. Try Kias or Toyotas too. Ford made too many Tauruses so you could probably get a deal on one of those.

Anything German or Japanese. Good build quality. Go for something newer that has high mileage rather than an old low mileage vehicle.
