not much you can do here....
really it is unfair to the cat and the parents because ALL pets should be FAMILY pets.. Your mom doesnt want a cat so there is no reason she should be forced to get one... its not like the cat will live in your room alone and you will pay all the bills (medical and food) for the cat.. plus what happens when you are older and move out - very few landlords allow people to have pets... so will the cat be put to sleep?? or what??

anyhow save your money grow up - buy a house of your own and get whatever pet you want.. but for now realize that it would be unfair to do to your mum and to the cat

oK.
Tell your mother that you will take very good care of it.
Feed it everyday.
Tell her the dangers of dogs and maybe she will change her mind.
Cats are good companions.
They dont need to be walked.
Which in my eyes is a very good thing.
They are trained to use the litter box.
Tell your mother if shes that scared then u can keep the cat in a room until shes ready.
Cats can be trained very easily.
Just dont pick up the cat until you get to know it or the cat will think you wanna play.o
And they dont make noise in the middle of the night.

Thanks for the points.

Your mum's probably afraid of the cat clawing the furniture, which they tend to do. Don't worry your are not alone in not getting a pet,I am married and my wife won't let me get one. She says that I can get a pet when I am old enough to look after it and I am 59 years old.

I don't even try to convince my parents. I just bring pets home :).. as long as you're prepared to be responsible for the pet (buy food, clean up after it, etc) and no one's gonna be allergic to it then I think it's find to have one. Everyone in the house just eventually get used and get to love the pets I bring home.

Get mice and breed them then let them loose in the house. Trust me she will want a cat then.

By the way there is no c in sense.

show her how responsible you are&can be w/a pet.research the pet care/cost/etc. of having a cat.then show her how serious you are about this idea.maybe she just needs to know it isnt on an impulse, that you want this pet.but you do have alot of responsibility in taking care of ANY pet.so be prepared, but also,be patient w/your mom.after all she's the boss you know!!
