Good point, I guess people were alot quicker to believe in miracles back then, they seemed to be more fanatical about religion. I guess that was before science changed things...and you never know, I bet half the people who claimed that they talked to Saints were lying because they had an agenda to fill. (getting people to follow them maybe)

It sometimes depends on what the voices say. If the voices say - build me a grotto- you can be a saint. If the voices say- shoot the president- you've got trouble.
Maybe it's just because we now have the drugs to treat hearing voices. Take this and it will make them stop.
N.B. Most people who hear voices today want them to stop.

It sounds like you are referring to Roman Catholicism on the first hand. The Word of God refers to every "born again" believer as a saint. That's the origin of the term. The Roman Catholic denomination invented canonization as a way to pick and chose those folks whom they could claim were "Godly" and call them "saints", instead of using God's "yardstick". Then tell their followers to pray to them, even though Jesus Christ said only to pray to his Heavenly Father. Ultimately, it's just another way for the Devil to rob people of God's Word. Not to just single out Roman Catholicism, they're no different from all the denominations that exist on the earth...all feature some doctrines that are not of the One True God...they are all "broken cisterns". They don't hold water...get it...I always loved God's analogy on that matter. As far as people today being called "crazy", now your into the topic of psychology & psychiatry...so-called science with a foundation of sand. Essentially just another religion...another avenue the Devil uses to keep folks from the truth. Humans, who use 25% of their brain capacity, think themselves capable of understanding the mind all on their own, just by making up a pseudo-science? Now that's crazy!

Because many keep the 'voices' to themselves due to the fact that so many come to the "logical" but wrong belief that anyone that does hear them are crazy.

Mat 7:16 By their fruits you shall know them. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
Mat 7:17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit, and the evil tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
Mat 7:18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can an evil tree bring forth good fruit.
Mat 7:19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit, shall be cut down, and shall be cast into the fire.
Mat 7:20 Wherefore by their fruits you shall know them.
Mat 7:21 Not every one that saith to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven: but he that doth the will of my Father who is in heaven, he shall enter into the kingdom of heaven.

in the old days, people really, i mean REALLY, fear god(s). therefore, not many people dare to speak on god(s)'s behalf and thos who was, will be respected.
but today, thanks to the advancement of science, we could prove many things, what we thought as the only thing that god(s) could do can be explained with science. therefore, our "level" of faith to god(s) is not as "strong" as before. and there are already some false prophets [somone actually said the world was gonna end in 90's], what chance if the true prophet speaks up and be believed?
