I had one puled out at the start of June this year and I was told not to do sports for a week. The gum still hasn't heal over properly even now. But the bleeding stopped after a few days. Make sure you keep your mouth really clean though so you don't get any infection. If you need any more advice I would suggest you ask your dentist. Good luck xx

I had a tooth pulled last year. And, mind you, I am totally freaked out and terrified of the dentist. I hadn't been in years but I had to go b/c I had an infection in one tooth and it was HURTING BAD! It wasn't as bad as I thought. I won't tell you all the bad things b/c then you'll worry about it, but the good thing is, it only takes about 30 minutes for the whole thing. (That includes waiting about 20 minutes for the shots to numb you) Afterwards, they give you a list of all the things you can't do within the next 48 hours. (No spitting, no smoking, no drinking through a straw, etc.) It will bleed for about two days, and will really hurt. (when you get back from getting it pulled, fill your prescription while your mouth is still numb, and take it when you get home, even if you don't feel any pain) I was numb so I didnt' take the medicine, then I fell asleep. When I woke up, the pain was so unbearable I was pacing the hallway back and forth b/c I couldn't sit still it was hurting so bad. SO TAKE THE MEDICINE B4 IT STARTS HURTING. But overall, it healed totally in about two weeks.

shouldn't be too long unless you have a problem with bleeding a lot. When I had mine out it was only a cpouple of days. But I know how bad a sore mouth can be, I am half way through getting a root canal. They have drilled out the root, but I have a tempory filling in the hole, while I have to wait 6 weeks in case there is any infection, then they will rinse it all out again and fill it for real. so I do know how you must be feeling. Sometimes I wish I could have had all my teeth pulled just so i never have to see a dentist again.

The initial healing period typically takes from one to two weeks, gum tissue takes about 3-4 weeks to heal and complete healing of the bone can take about 6-8 months depending on your care of this area.
Some discomfort, bleeding and swelling should be expected in the next 24 hours as your mouth heals. Following these simple instructions will normally be all that is needed
As your mouth heals, you can promote faster healing and avoid complications by simply following these instructions.
DO NOT DISTURB THE WOUND: In doing so you may invite irritation, infection and/or bleeding. The healing process begins immediately after surgery as your body sends blood to nourish the tooth socket. Complete healing will take one to two weeks and swelling may last 48 hours. Simple pressure from a piece of gauze is usually all that is needed to control the bleeding and to help a blood clot to form in the socket. Sutures may need to be removed in 3-5 days. Keep your fingers and tongue away from this area. No positive or negative pressure like blowing up balloons. Blowing your nose or sneezing violently can dislodge the blood clot and impair healing, so if you have an upper respiratory infection or allergies be sure to take the appropriate medications to treat these conditions.
Up To Top
DO NOT SMOKE OR USE TOBACCO PRODUCTS or ALCOHOL FOR 72 HOURS AFTER THE TOOTH/TEETH Have BEEN EXTRACTED: because smoke can interfere with the healing process, promote bleeding and can cause a very painful situation know as "dry socket". Continuing to smoke during these first few days will slow healing and soft tissue will not be able to begin to fill in the socket to form the blood clot needed for healthy healing. Smoking can also interfere with the bone grow that surrounds the socket resulting in slowing its process of filling in the socket

a couple of days. I had a tooth pulled and in a couple of days I was right back to eating normal. I had my coffee the next morning and also brushed my teeth the very next morning, but was careful around the missing tooth. If you are experiencing soreness or redness around the area you should go back to your dentist, he will need to prescribe an antibiotic.

You need to ask you dentist because every individual is different. It is going to depend on how fast your blood clots, and if you are a bleeder.
No one can honestly answer that question other then your dentist.
