Unless your school requires it, no. That said, my son has used one since he started high school and has found it very helpful in keeping up with his work.

There is a big difference between want and need. There will be differences between schools, so some (I think very few) will require one. Check with the specific school.

for high school, no. Just a reg. computer at home is fine. As long as uve got internet access and a printer your golden.
