Hot sauce , garlic powder anything to spice up the food would be very welcome .
Reading material of any kind but especially paperbacks .
Supportive letters , especialy from the young ladies .

E blueys,www.superletters,
This is an online message system that enables you to write the soldier a letter that then gets printed off at the other end and given to the soldier in question the same day or at latest the next day.
Highly efficient !
Make sure you send little parcels from time to time. Try not to let the soldier feel your pain , just be strong and reasure them that although you are missing them you are looking forward to their return . ALWAYS END THE PHONE CALLS WITH YOUR LOVE

My son just got back from Afghanistan. He said depending on where the person is depends on what that need or want. Some nice things that he liked were, food from home (anything that isn't an MRE is great to them) or something to help fix the taste of some of the MREs; like salt, pepper, ketchup, etc. Disposable cameras, baby wipes, lotion, canned fruit cups, etc. Those that are lucky to be on a base like to get DVD's, CD's, books, things to occupy their down time.

If you are collecting things to send to troops, send things like snacks that are non-perishable, games, magazines, and books.
