need advice on very dark faces ie nigerian sort of black when i face paint my basic red comes out pink if im lucky and the kids get very dissappointed any suggestions for a good vibrant red that will do the trick most of the kids i work on are shades of pale brown to black so i need to sort this out thanks

To brighten the red contrast, try mixing a dark red with a little bright yellow or orange--not white. A non-toxic water based tempera such as those used for posters should work. It tends to get a little dry feeling but I've had good success with it using it to paint children's faces. Good luck!

You need a very highly pigmented face paint. Many cheaper brands are not. Brands that come out a vivid red on darker skin include Wolfe Brothers and Krylon.

I don't do face painting but how about applying a light base color on first and then your red color on top.

u should try magenta colour.
