on its ban on birth control? Many of the countries being devastated by AIDS are devoutly Catholic -- a faith that treats birth control as a sin. if the church preaches love and culture of life- how can a religion tell peole to love and care for each other but then turn a blind eye on the death and suffering of innocent people due to not teaching them to protect themselves?

No it makes no sense at all, and using condoms not only reduces the birth rate but also controls the spread of STD's. The Vatican's position in old fashioned and dangerous.

It's Sunday morning where I am. If it's Sunday morning where you are, go to a catholic church for "see and be seen mass" (this is scheduled to start sometime between 10"30 and noon depending on the church) and watch the people come in. You will see very few families of 6-8 children. Catholics are having the same 2.1 that everybody else is. It's a miracle? If you call getting some sense a miracle yes. Much of the clergy on the ground, in the day to day work of serving real people with real problems has found some wiggle room in these 13 century laws when trying to apply them to 21st century problems. Shhh! don't tell the pope.

I agree with the position of the Vatican, because those countries that are devoutly Catholic know what happens from sex. To many people use birth control as an excuse to have as much sex and as many partners as they like. You are also confused on an issue. The Vatican has clearly taught them how to protect themselves, through the bible. In other words you are saying, "They were not taught , because I believe they should have been taught this way." It is a fact that those countries that do endorse birth control have lower moral standards then those that don't promote the drug.

It goes over the edge to treat all birth control (not just abortion) as a sin.

Most chemical birth controls do have side effects, of course.

Apparently it's a religion that believes in having babies but not having fun.

No married couple ever got aids by being totally faithful to each other.

This has always been God's position.

It works 100% of the time.

It's biblical.

It's Catholic.

Get over it.

Why is it OUR fault if they choose to ignore Church teaching on one thing but follow it on another? If you choose to be unfaithful, adultery which is also something we Catholics do not believe in then you cannot blame the Church because you chose to follow teachings about Condoms or birth control. As for starving children, they are all of our responsibility. They starve because many of us simply do not care enough to share with them.

Why is it the Catholic's fault? Why aren't the Buddhists or Muslims or Wiccans called on the carpet because they aren't helping out much either.

We don't have enough room for Catholic families with 6 kids anymore. We need to start cutting back.
