ho ho ho
probably because they are worried they may get struck by lightening wot with being so tall and that.
pretty straight forward.
Even if you believe in god you look both ways before you cross the road and you dont play russian roulette as a rule. The lightening conductor is a sensible precaution as indeed is avoiding the path of a charging herd of heffalumps. I do like the point that a church is the people and not the building though. Church is congregation which literally means flocking together and I bet thered be no greater flocking than if a church got struck so maybe god would see it as a great opportunity ...??Mind you THAT would be a waste of money if they had to rebuild the great old building again.

Some believe that God created the world. However just because he created it does not mean that he controls every aspect of it. If he did then there would be no free will.

Basically God created the system and let it run. So thunder storms and lightning are going to occur and God will not control where that lightning strikes.

Church spires are the tallest points in most villages so they are the logical place to install lightning conductors.

I agree the 'Big Guy' is in charge. However He also defined the law of physics (or whatever lightning is subjected to) and church spires are not exempted.

And Jesus said, "where ever there are more than two of you speaking of me let that be a Church". he didnt say, "Ok you guys, spend all the poor peoples money building a sod of great big building so you can have the poor starving underpaid scruffs come and worship in the way YOU want them to do!" So, God dont look after His "Churches" coz he and his only begotten Son never said to biuld great big money consuming buildings.

I love your answer, you've hit the nail right on the head, that's just it, God hates the churches and all false religion. he has his own people about 4 to 5 million of them and they don't go to church but he looks after them. I give on line Bible studies and everyone has had the biggest shock of their lives. There isn't a question that i can't answer about the Bible, everything you want to know the answer is in there, try me

Whether you believe in God or not, religious buildings and churches are affected by disasters (earthquakes, wind, lightning, bombs) just like any other buildings. This also is valid for people who are unlucky enough to be in the buildings. They can get hurt.

Because Satan can do lightning too!

Rev 13:13 And he did great signs, so that he made also fire to come down from heaven unto the earth, in the sight of men.

Well, if we don't put it, we get to meet the "big guy" faster.

We are in this world but not of this world. While we are in this world, we are subjected to the laws of this world. Gravity will keep our feet on the ground, just like it will keep yours.

Have a nice day.
