So why do all the bible quoting folks on here get so offended when someone has exercised their freedom of choice to ask a question which queries the substance of their belief?
Are all the christians failing to live by the word of their god?

I stick with the age old - BELIEVE WHAT YOU WANT TO BELIEVE, just don't go forcing it on others. As to why people get offended - Most people do when they're told they're wrong. Some people can't take critisism.

I have been very active on yahoo answers, and do not think you are right in what you are suggesting. I read almost everything pertaining to faith, and if there are any faith that get offended to engage in a discussion, it certainly is not christians, except you are referring to something different.

Having said that, I will not fail to let you know that there is only one God, the creator and maker of all things. He gave his only begotten son Jesus Christ to die for YOUR sins, and if you do not repent but continue in your rebellion, you will answer on the last day, which could be the final day of judgement or the day you leave this world in death. This is the STARK reality and it does not matter how good you feel about distancing your self from this fact, the only thing is that God loves you and does not want you to perish by continuing in your rejectiong of his plan of salvation.

It is the sort of freedom you are talking about that is breeding terrorism and creating the ugly monster that is facing the world today. Imagine what could have happened if these 24 murders were able to down 10 jets over the Atlantic, and those people claim to they are exercing their freedom!

True freedom comes when a man is saved from SIN and the urge to destroy the lives of others is removed. It is only Jesus Christ that can give the sort of peace that removes such hatred and SINFUL nature from man.

May God help you to resolve these in your heart.

Christians should not take offense when someone asks a question about their beliefs; however, a lot of Christians don't know much in the way of facts, and aren't sure how to give an answer that an unbeliever would understand. The word of God does continuosly emphasis love, but christians are not perfect. But our mistakes in taking offense and being quick to anger, which I apologize for, are forgiven by a merciful God. That's what its all about.

I am a beleiver, and I personally don't take offence. I worry about your quote" Freedom of Choice", I think others christians would agree that we were called to Christ. It wasn't a choice for me, My life was really sad, and waisted on things of this world, and when Jesus came into my life, He turned it around, and gave me direction. All fall short, and I fear that the folks that you mention may just be frustrated because they care. Someone said to me a long time ago, and it helpped me. We are alway harsher to thoses that we care about. In others words, sometimes we are nicer to strangers then the people you truely love, and that love you. Even thought some people treat Jesus badly, He came to save the whole world, one's who treat him badly is testimony that he is needed in their lives. He came to save the whole world, and he is the slowest to take offence, because He Loves You.

Not all do. It is dangerous to put ALL into one pot as it takes some that are innocent of the act too. If you have Jesus in your heart, you shoud never get angry at anything that is asked in sincerity. And those things that are meant to be put downs or to put down God, why should we get angry about their apparant ignorance? No true Christian is going to get angry at what is asked and if you do, you need to get a bit closer to God and then you will just let the ignorance go by and not worry about it.

no only those fanatical religious ones who get riled up are replying. loving christians accept God loves us all equally and we are here to live as Christ did, christians are lil Christ like ppl.
literally, what the term means, but you may be misinterpreting their replies which is easy to do on here, as opposed to a face to face conversation. God Bless, ppl do take affense when they believe so strongly in something. if you have children and someone questions anything about what kind of parent you are or says anything no matter how well intended about our kids. it comes off more harsh they mayve been meant.

New believers to any faith systems do not know how to answer questions of their faith, so they tend to get angry rather than give a poor answer. Those of us who are more established do not get angry when questioned. We just try to explain why we feel the way we do and allow others to make their own objective judgements and follow the path of their own hearts and consciences.

I like the challenge. I usually meat with some Christians for lunch on Tuesdays and we debate the faith. Sometimes others join in. Bring em on!
