I've asked a question about why cats are so popular, and one answer seems to crop up a lot, because they don't have to be walked especially in bad weather. First of all that seems as though people want a pet without any real responsibility, and second of all, what's wrong with walking in the sun, the rain and the snow, or any weather for that matter? It's better than parking your backside too often, surely? And yes, I do realise that some people can't get out of their homes and rely on felines for companionship.

I prefer dogs. When you are having a great day and are so full of energy your dog will always be ready, willing and able to go for a walk. If you are having a lousy day and all you want is to sulk away to yourself your dog is always right beside you with its head on your lap. In short so what if you have to walk your dog, i'd still rather have my favourite companion with me any day.

I think cats make the best pets for those how go to work during the day as a cat you can leave at home and know that they will be fine. A dog on the other hand you can't just leave at home as it is cruel as you say they need walking and not just once in the morning and once at night. People who work can not afford to be coming home from work to walk a dog, so they get a cat. Just for the record if I had a dog I would walk it no matter what the weather as you are right there, it should not matter what the weather is doing.

Cats rule dogs drool, lol.

People, like dogs and cats, come in all shapes and sizes and all have different likes and dislikes.

Some people adore cats and have a wonderful relationship with their pets but everyone who likes cats doesn't necessarily dislike walking in all weathers.

I love cats and dogs so I'm out whatever the weather but I might be an exception.

If you study and observe people properly you might find that cat lovers are actually more domesticated and prefer a quieter life style. They aren't lazy or looking for a pet that doesn't need much attention they are just that type of person. The nature of the cat matches the nature of the owner.

Dog lovers are often more outgoing and active and like to be out and about just like their dogs.

This is a bit of a generalisation but I can't see why anyone should ask about cats versus dogs. It is all a matter of personal preference and I don't see why there should be any rivalry or competition.

If someone prefers cats - that's OK. If someone else prefers dogs - then that's OK too!

Dogs are better. Cats are just like big mice. Hubby wants to get a cat because we have the occasional mouse creeping in but a cat is not guaranteed to get rid of it. And a cat will be just as bad. It'll go into the kitchen, trip you up, walk all over the table and surfaces, shed hair and eat any thing left out. My dog is trained never to go into the kitchen and she's not allowed on the furniture. A cat, being the in dependant animal that it is, will do what it likes whether you like it or not.

That's correct, you don't have to walk them, but you don't have to walk dogs either providing you have a fenced in yard. Some small dogs can be litter box trained. I guess a big dog could be litter box trained also, but wow what a huge litter box that would be!

I think this "cats vs dogs" debate is about much more than the logistics of it all, but its about ones personality, what one wants out of a pet, etc etc.

I have four cats and two dogs and find the critters totally different from each other and its not fair to compare them. But I feel both are totally wonderful.

I still prefer dogs to cats, only because I have had a few dogs myself , and that dogs are alot easier to tame, and will be alot friendler with you than what a cat could be.

Although as a Tshirt says that I have got , " I have a Split Personality , I hate cats, but I love ***** !!!! "

Love them both, but for me dogs win over cats. I love taking my dog on long walks and playing with a stick/ball. Their energy is so much fun.

Having said that, one of my favourite analogies is in Meet the Parents when Robert deNiro's character judge's Ben Stiller's character because he likes dogs saying he's weak because he needs a dog to love him.

I have both. Cats are much easier if you go on vacation because they need less attention. Dogs are generally more playful and loving. They are both great but certainly do require owners that are responsible to care for them properly.

cats arent that hard to take care of. they dont make much noise in the middle of the night or the wee hours of the morning. Cats are trained to use the litter box.(most of the time) {thanx for the 2 pts.}
