My anxiety has been worse since increasing my dose of Wellbutrin Xl to 300 mg. it has been 9 days. I want to try to hold out for a few more days, anyone have advice? I have talked to my doctor, and he said I should take Xanax to get through the beginning and after that , I need to use my own judgment. I am just looking for public opinion. Serious answers only please!

GO AND ASK YOUR DOCTOR AND IT BETTER BE A PSYCHIATRIST YOU ARE CALLING A DOCTOR NOT A FAMILY PRACTICE OR OTHER SPECIALITY. I can not imagine anyone with an average IQ or better putting this question out on yahoo, as if all the real knowledge about you and how you react to Wellbutrin XL is on Yahoo answers. For pete's sake this is your body and your disorder. GO TO A PSYCHIATRIST AND ASK THESE QUESTIONS.

I believe it can. If your depression is a result of a blood sugar imbalance (hypoglycemia or hyperinsulinemia) and Wellbutrin makes you feel better by increasing the amount of blood sugar in the bloodstream - temporarily, then these conditions will drop the blood sugar level faster than Wellbutrin can increase it.

I would suggest eating to level your blood sugar.

Eating a diet that stresses protein (poultry and fish (salmon/tuna/cod) are best, unless you are a vegetarian and then soy is very good), low glycemic carbohydrates (look up a glycemic index) and good fat (olive oil for cooking, almonds or peanuts for snacking), may ease your extra anxiety a bit.

I would suggest you ask your doctor for tests to rule out hypoglycemia and/or hyperinsulinemia as the cause of your anxiety.

It's only been 9 days. You should give it 2 weeks. Start taking the Xanax and when the Wellbutrin is level in your system, you can slowly wean yourself off of the Xanax, but consult with your shrink first.

I found it got worse for me for about a week and then it did get substantially better. Hang in there.
