Can't see any problem with that. All negative, pessimistic, slobbish people do is 'drain' good feeling from others.
If people are criticising you, it could be that you are coming across in a way you are unaware of. I can't really judge because I don't know you, but maybe you are being a bit 'snobby' without realising it. Otherwise they wouldn't complain.
Rest assured though. Be aware of how you are around others, and if it's not good, then change it. Make yourself the opposite of the people you wish to avoid (optimistic, hygienic, polite, genteel, respectful) and you will soon be surrounded by very positive people. Nobody likes 'drains' be a 'radiator' and you will attract radiance.

Frankly, a lot of times, when people tell someone else, "You think..." it's not really what that person thinks of themselves, it's what THEY think and project onto that person. There is nothing wrong with deciding that you will associate with certain type of people...many groups do it all the time on other bases, so why should it be bad if someone does it because of hygiene or etiquette?

It could be the way you come across to people i know someone who has the attitude of they are always right never wrong, and believes everything said to them is a waste of time because they know better, if only they could look at themselves and see what they really are, it really puts people off. I'm not saying you are like this as i don't know you, just ignore these people if they are being petty. Good Luck.

And we all know that is music to your ears, don't pretend that you are offended because you are not. We all want to surround ourselves with the right types, but to think that you are the best, just isn't very humbling. Being humble is such a wonderful trait, you may want to try it sometime. It seems to me like you are a wannna be, never thought I would have, type of person, are you suprised that you have gotten this far educationally and academically???? Relax, less is more!!!
