We are planning a holiday in Aus next Feb and while based in Melbourne wish to visit the gold coast and the barrier reef and hoped to do it all in a 7 day trip - however to fly between the two resorts it seems we have to fly back to Sydney then change which is a 5.5 hr journey - does anyone have any ideas? - thanks

go to the various travel agency websites, and also the air line websites, but I should think that you could fly from the gold coast to the Great Barrier Reef

Well I guess you could try getting a flight through either virgin or jetstar from coolangatta to either proserpine or townsville. Of course it depends on the airline and price but it's definately worth checking out.
