hell no....I would never let ANYONE I did not know watch my child, unless it was at a certafied day care, and I would spend some time there before I put him into that day care. Especially no one from the internet.

My first reaction was no, but we leave our kids at childcare after doing a lot of research on them. When we first moved to our house last year, people on our block were pitching our daughter HARD to go through babysitter training so that she could babysit. We didn't know any of them, and I swear they were pitching her within a week of moving here.
So, I would instead say that I would do a whole lot of research on the online company, check references, see if they are connected to anyone credible that I would trust, meet or talk to the owners of the website and do a police check. Then I would decided if I would or not use them.
I just don't think you should always assume if it is online it is a predator. I would do the homework on the website like you would with anyone else watching my child.
It took a while for folks to trust online shopping, and those sites put things in place to build their credibility and safety. An online babysitting service should be doing the same. Then you could trust them.

I would only use someone I know personally. I would never use an online babysitter listing site. Such a site would probablt attract pedophiles to list themselves as babysitters. The whole idea gives me the creeps.

Yes, I would consider the option. Obviously I ould have to meet the person, follow-up on their references and establish that they have a full understanding of children, as well as basic emergency training etc.
The site would have to be reputable, perhaps use security checks and an in-depth interview/pre-sscreening process before even listing a potential sitter. As a parent, I would want to see proof that this sytem was in fact, in effect and enforced.

i think people in areas that are really hard to find babysitters will possible use it....i live in an area where daycare and evening babysitters are really hard to come by and most people here dont have family near by either....so yeah it might work....all you can do is try it out

It would have to be someone I personally knew or a friend of mine, youth pastor, teacher reccommended. I wouldn't leave my kid with a stranger I found online.
