I'm not preapared to change the way I am for no one.
If they don't like me they don't have to be around me.
I don't look down on people either.I only retaliate if someone annoys me.

Neither does anyone else coz you've not given context.
You don't have to be rich to be a snob - maybe look it up in the dictionary.
Do you make judgements on people by their appearance and status alone? Do you rate yourself on that too? How important are other people's actions to you? Would you choose a man with a flash lifestyle as better than a man with a simple one? Are you more interested in people when you know they can get you some where or will have more money?
Or, interestingly, are you sometimes shy and when you meet people you don't say much? Do you find it hard to make conversation with new people? Often shyness is misread as snobbiness/being aloof.
If you answer yes to some of these questions, then you might be on the way to working out why people call you a snob.

You don't have to be rich to be a snob! Being a snob refers to being stuck up, looking down on people, treating others with disdain, thinking you are better than others. I don't know you, so I can't actually tell if you are a snob or not, but if you have any of the characteristics described above you might indeed be a bit of a snob...
Some people also come off as a snob but aren't, for instance if you are very aloof, or shy, you can be perceived as being a snob when you are nothing of the kind!

Here's the defnition of snob according to Yahoo's education reference dictionary (note that there is no definition in here that pertains to wealth)
1. One who tends to patronize, rebuff, or ignore people regarded as social inferiors and imitate, admire, or seek association with people regarded as social superiors.
2. One who affects an offensive air of self-satisfied superiority in matters of taste or intellect.
Only you can decide whether you do or don't fit these definitions.
But if two people have called you this, could it be how you are perceived. The discussion boards can be difficult because we can't see your body language or the tone in your voice.
My suggestion is to look at these definitions and take these into consideration when you talk to others to make sure you are not saying something in a way that can be misinterpreted.
I hope this helps!

Sometimes being called a snob is more an indication of the other person's attitude than your own. Are they so insecure that they care how YOU feel about them? I try to be pleasant with everyone, but I really don't give a damn if they think I'm a snob, or like me at all.

The Gothic Rational
Leaping Dragons breathe their fire
Upon the painted white faces.
Dressed in Black the tattoo'd ladies
Chant whitchy songs upon the throngs
Of the followers from the dungon.
The children of the darkness gather blood
Off of the teeth of the vampires.
Kept in viles by the big stone fireplace
To brew one day in black iron pots.
Seems to be a fat girl culture
They probabably eat the thin ones.
Also a place where the wayward boychild
Can find a home away form the encyclopedia.
To gather like zombies in a coma
At the foot of a large oak alter.
Worshiping nothing and making
A ritual to obey the Godless fathers
Of sin and sickness and death.

Same thing happens with my mom. So many of her friends have told her that when they first met her they thought she was a snobby b****. But she isn't. She just has a confident persona and doesn't participate in meaningless conversations with people she just met. Once people get to know her though they really like her. Maybe people view you this way. Sometimes people view quiet people as snobby because they keep to themselves. Later they find out that they are not snobs, they're just quiet.
P.S: Whether you're rich or not has nothing to do with it.

Silly! Snobs don't have wealth - they only think they have. They think that they are better than others either because they believe that they have money or knowledge.
If you have been called a snob three times this week, perhaps it is time to take a stock check on the way that you think.

You don't have to be rich to be a snob. If you demand the best of everything and look down at people who don't have clothes like you or dress differently or have less money then that makes you a snob as well. Or if you're a goth who calls non-gothic people "conformist" that makes you a snob. Or perhaps you talk posh. I don't know.

I would refer to someone as a snob if they looked down on others, thought they / their way of life / doing things, was better than others. I'm not saying thats what you've done, but that is how I'd define it, not by whether someone is rich or not
