Our cat had kittens yesterday and our male cat was curious about 6 hours later so we let him in. He went into the bed and sniffed each of the kittens and the Mom but then he left.

Since there doesn't seem to be any "fatherhood" instincts in domestic cats I wouldn't leave a male in with the kittens but I don't think it does any harm to have him see them, get used to them and at least be give him the chance.

it depends on the male cat. Some male actually adopt the kittens while some reject them. Keep a close eye.

No the male cat will try to eat the babies in order to get the female in heat again faster.

Yes it's fine. The mother cat will run him off if she feels a threat.

if kits are his, risk is small, but if they are from another father he may try to eat them in order to make his own
