well hitler wasn't a catholic. he did away with all religions in germany before he died. he did use the catholic church to accomplish his goals. different times. you can't blame the current heads or supporters of religion for the past mistakes of others. too much of that goes around. now you can point out that organizations haven't learned from the past, which sadly happens quite a bit.

+ Hitler +

Automatic excommunication happens when Catholics commit certain offensives. This happens as soon as the offence is committed.

Adolf Hitler committed the following offenses resulting in automatic excommunication:
- Apostasy - the formal renunciation of one's religion. Hitler specifically rejected the Catholic Church, as well as Christianity in general. He described himself as "a complete pagan.”
- Heresy - a doctrine in theology, religion, philosophy, or politics at variance with those of the Catholic Church. Nazism is definitely heretical to Christianity.

For both of these reasons Hilter excommunicated himself from the Catholic Church.

+ Pope Urban II +

Pope Urban II lived from 1042 to 1099. Of what do you accuse him?

+ Pope Hadrian IV +

Pope Adrian IV lived from about 1100 to 1159.Of what do you accuse him?

+ Mel Gibson +

Mel Gibson is not a real Catholic.

He is a member of a break away independent traditionalist 'Catholic' Church which does not recognize the Pope and some of the teachings of the Catholic Church including those about Jews and Judaism.

+ Jews +

The Catholic Church officially teaches about Judaism:

When she delves into her own mystery, the Church, the People of God in the New Covenant, discovers her link with the Jewish People, "the first to hear the Word of God.

The Jewish faith, unlike other non-Christian religions, is already a response to God's revelation in the Old Covenant.

To the Jews "belong the sonship, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the worship, and the promises; to them belong the patriarchs, and of their race, according to the flesh, is the Christ"; "for the gifts and the call of God are irrevocable."

Neither all Jews indiscriminately at that time, nor Jews today, can be charged with the crimes committed during the Passion of Jesus Christ. The Jews should not be spoken of as rejected or accursed as if this followed from Holy Scripture.

With love in Christ.

AHEM! Excuse me, but these people are responsible for their own beliefs and behaviors and by no means represent the sum of all Christianity. Catholicism is not the original New Testament Church regardless of the insistence. It was born of a complex blending of religions; Hellenism, Judaism and Christianity. Hellenism is in itself a blending of various religions in itself (Egyptian, Greek and others).

Hitler's claim to Christianity was a farce. The man was steeped up to his eyeballs in occultisms and very bizarre practices. He considered himself a god among men, like Kim Jung-il and his father before him.

Atheism is not the only other alternative to Christianity.

Even among catholics, there are many school of thoughts. So we should not judge the religion based on the black sheep. If we do that, we are putting down the good like mother teresa ~

Religion is for YOUR benefit (if YOU choose to see it that way). What others do under the guise of religion has no effect on your personal beliefs.
