Travelling to US and want to know if I can still bring my laptop computer and a book to read.

So far yes, but things keep changing...go to the TSA (transportation security administration) webstie at www.tsa.gov

No. Right now due to what happened in England you are not allowed to have any of that stuff in your carry-on, no liquids or creams of any type either.

yes they are, just make sure your batteries are charged, so you can demonstrate them working
if you are not allowed a certain carry-on, there is always the option of mailing it back home from the airport

Check in advance with your airline THE SAME DAY AS, OR THE DAY PRIOR TO, DEPARTURE.
