Is an anti-terrorism clearance required for those who wish to work in the United Kingdom? How much does it cost?

Any of the Government offices where you are applying to work, will do their own checks, and you won;t be paying for those. Clearance is not something you could buy????? Anyone could make up any old bit of paper to say you're as clean as a whistle, that's why they do their own investigations into your background

It really depends where you are coming from I guess. Anybody from an Islamic country would need to undergo some strict background checks. This means not only you but your family too. Ive never heard of anti-terrorism clearance. They will do a police check and stuff like that......if you were planning on working in an area where there are children or the elderly they will also do a check to make sure you are not a paedophile. Most background checks are done at the employers expense.
Do you have a work visa for the UK? You will need a National Insurance number and you can't get this until you find a job. Then you would use a temporary number.

I have no idea what an "anti-terrorism clearance" is, but I'm guessing that all the rules might have changed since the events of last week.

No. And as you must know, it would be impossible anyway. Britain is full of sympathizers of Islamic terrorism. And among British Christians, as I guess there was in 1936, there is a great wish to appease terrorists and hope they will go away.

If you are working for the Government or even just delivering newspapers to Government buildings, you will be checked thoroughly.

You and your family. It doesn't cost you anything.

As for just working in London - no I don't think it is any different to working in any place in the UK.
