I guess your question is really just heart or head? Maybe they don't want to be disfigured or make it hard for somebody to look at them.
On a practical side some people don't know where the heart is and actually miss, really. I think some may do what they have seen in a movie, heard or read about. Some people have failed with various methods, including weapons, and lived for days after the attempt.
I have worked literally hundreds of death scenes and many suicides. None of them are pretty. There was some thought put into all of the suicides as opposed to murders.
Like yourself, there are questions and pain for those left behind. It is difficult without a support group or a good counselor to find somebody to talk with. Even a person who has no personal connection with the deceased, like myself, will always have questions.
I have often left a scene with the feeling that the act was a real "waste". It seemed to me that the person sometimes meant more to others than they really knew; or could have meant more with just a little effort.
For those in terminal physical pain I have never been judgmental. I have walked away from those scenes thinking, "maybe so." It is one of those things where you had to be there.
Everybody has to deal with death of one sort or another sooner or later. I hope these responses help a little in some small way for you.
I have answered some other suicide questons. As far as I know they allowed the questions and the answers. But, it is easy to get into a marginal situation when death is a subject and then is related to law, religion, morals, sex, war, etc.
I think you are right about the sex questions. Some are making a point of seeing what they can get away with.

if someone you knew committed suicide, why weren't you asking something like.."how do i deal with this", and not where would you shoot yourself. then you come back and say you are mad that you were fined and lost 9 points. you sound very cold, and very into yourself. your question was tacky, and lacked sympathy for this person that you knew. i'd i'd take double the 9 points away from you just for being mad that you were so wronged and came back on and said so.

Even people that end up killing themselves don't always show signs that they are going to do it. Why does it matter how they did it? Do you think they did it the wrong way? Apparently they did it the way they wanted to and they succceded! Are you really the kind of person that thinks you're the only person that's right about everything an could have done it better? It sounds like you are! Pity-Pity Their life was far more important then you're OPINION!!!!!!!!!!!

when someone is thinking of commtting suicide we dont know what goes thru thier head but they must have a lot of emotional pain that is too hard to bear and they feel its the only way out sometimes i think when ppl say they have no one to talk to what they mean is if they talk to someone that person may talk them out it and the person who wants to die doesnt care cause they feel they are not worthy of living on this earth
