God created the Universe with Laws governing it. If we follow these Laws we go toward God and if we don't follow them we go astray.
It is God's Will that we become Divine like God is. Mat 5:48 Be therefore perfect...
So in reality we punish ourselves by not following God's Will. After all we have free will to choose in which direction we want to go.

No. God can not know that He is God, nor can He can distinguish between any forms of life in His creation. To think that He punishes us is a childs view. Chrisht meditated and found perhaps God within himself and helped others to evolve to his level of being. We punish ourselves of our wrong thoughts and actions and debase ourselves into an illusory existence or universe of our own creation. Every one lives in his own universe created by himself. Better seek help for spiritual evolution rather evolution and have proper idea of who is this God really ?

Sure He can. We are not perfect. But the definition of punishment is the sticking point. Does He punish us - true believers when we sin?
It has felt that way sometimes to me.
I believe the Holy Spirit convicts us of the wrongness of our actions and urges us to repent. And maybe something we really wanted does not come to pass the way we wanted or needed.

God can punish anyone even Christians of course. We are not exempt from punishment if anything we are probably expected more of.

The WORD says, Whom the LORD loveth, He chasteneth , in the Proverbs as well as in the 12th chapter of Hebrews. It is a show of love, just like any good Father disciplines his children as well! He is kind and loving and warns us gently about 5 times before any "punishment" comes because He is slow to anger. I've been "spanked" a few times and grounded even more. I could be a hardheaded child! I've learned to be obedient and trust Him in all things through the years. Good question.

No. Because He already punished Jesus for our sins and wrong doing.

Yes, but it's strange how it happens. It never happens directly, it is often deferred, and when it happens, people call it justice for your evil ways. Even more often, it is deferred until after death, where you burn for eternity in a hell that is not really even mentioned in the Bible. Unless you do a confession, which is like a soul-shower...you will be cleansed of your sin, praise Jesus.
