I have been suffering from the above for about a week now. Nothing seems to get rid of the taste which gets worse when i cough. Has anyone else had anything similar and what is it please.

I lean towards a sinus infection, but it could also be in your lungs. Either way you have some sort of infection going on. See a doctor.

Have you been taking any antibiotics lately? Or any medication? I know that a metallic taste in the mouth is a very common side effect with certain meds and antibiotics. I've never heard of it being related to smoking, but it probably could be. See a doctor just to be safe.

It could be from a medication your taking some of them have that as a side effect. I also had those symptoms but i had a burning feeling with it and it made me cough alot. I was diagnosed with Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) basically really bad heartburn. If you go to webmd.com they have alot of info on this and you can see which symptoms you have. I would say you should call your DR seeings its been a week and no relief.
