One thing I know for sure is I can only control me and no one else. So I only worry about my own actions and leave others actions up to them.

damn right should be able to!!! There are so many closed minded people out there who wouldnt change their close mindedness for the world no matter how much you point out to them. Thats where true evil stems from thinking you are better than someone else and can ridicule and insult anothers way of seeing the world or being. How canwe truly be ourselves or be free if we cannot tolerate points of view which are do not harm others. People are allowed to have opnions or whatnot but never to ridicule or supress another for their harmless beliefs or ways of being. Its the start of a slippery road if biggotery starts rearing its ugly head... unfortunately it happens all too often

The phrase "Live and let live" is theoretically possible. But only theoretically.

It's like murder laws. Nearly 99% of the population will follow that law, and it's a great law, and ideal. But you have to always take the crazy 1% into consideration.

For something of a lesser degree as "Live and let live," you have way more influences to really screw it up.

Maybe only 1% of the population is likely to kill. But more than half will probably succumb to jealousy. Maybe 75% of the population will succumb to greed. Maybe 40% is likely to go ahead and take advantage of you if only given the chance. 10% are likely to enter your house and steal. And probably 90% are guilty of bothering you, and doing so consciously, just because you look good and they woke up on a bad hair day.

There's a wonderful quote about people who pretty much live in a "Live and let live" culture. It goes something like:

"Alright. Let us both shut up. We can ignore each other in peace."

Can we get along with people who have different beliefs? I can.
Can we see past a person's differences and co-exist with them without insulting them or ridiculing them? I can.

The problem is, can the other 5,999,999,999 people in the world do the same thing?

Unfortunately, no.

It appears to me that there are two types of people: those who can "live and let live" and those who can't. I subscribe to the first view. I don't give a damn what you do, just leave me alone. Which is why I moved out where I am now. You are entitled to your beliefs and opinions same as I.

The other type? Guess they feel the need to decide what's best for others. There is no greater tyranny than stopping others from doing as they please.

No one ever says "Pass this law/rule so I can stop doing something I know I can't." Always it's to prevent something they see their neighbors doing. Gotta stop'em for their own good, even though they're not harming anyone else.

Any belief that cannot accept others is causing or will cause problem. The beginning of all such problems are from the false belief that "we are the only true one and rest all are false". We can clearly understand that this is developed by an evil mind with a purpose to kindle enmity between beliefs. To save the world from present problems, individuals must come forward to condemn religions and practise spirituality beyond religions.

It would be very nice but I am not too sure if it's just being an ideadlist...man have created this huge gap between the religions and distanced them self from reality to a point of no return...we see only what is different about ourself because we beleive that's what makes us special instead of looking for the common thread.

Yes, its possible... I mean for me, I can do that, I have no problem with people who's beliefs are different than mine. The thing is some people are bigot, they exist in our midst, even some of our love ones and close friends are like that, and its kinda hard to reason with people who's out look in life are rooted in Earth's core and so hard to rationalize with people who are close-minded, there's no flowing of thoughts or ideas, and its stink.

The problem is never with what someone else believes.

It is only with thinking that you are right, so they must be wrong.

It is the same as saying that I wear size 13 shoes, and anyone who wears any other size is going to hell.

This sounds absurd about shoes, yet many see it as making sense about faith.

Time to grow up.

Simple answer: Yes

Difficult answer: Yes. But it requires people to think beyond themselves. So the possibility that that will happen is very low.
