Johnny 1, since this is America we can talk however we please in public. It's called free speech. We don't have to "sit in our houses and drink beer and keep our opinions to ourselves."
In answer to the question, first of all, your hyperbole is ridiculous. 99%...yeah, right. There is a big question in a lot of our minds, however, how can your "peaceful" clerics sit by and do nothing to stop the extreme terrorist in your religion?
Like most Americans, I will never forget 9/11, and I know if some radical Christian group had blown up the Dome of The Rock, the Americans would be paying to rebuild that bigger and better than ever and as a taxpayer, I would have to help pay for it.

Because they have been mislead by the so-called news media in the US.
They have little or no access to any news that is not biased, so they think that the things that they are seeing reflect true reality.
This is a dangerous situation, but you can't blame them because they are reacting to what they see as reality even if it is not.
I don't know what can be done about this because the whole thing is set up to induce irrational fears, so people will be more willing to give up personal freedoms that some in high positions find to be threatening.
WE need to stop electing fear based people to positions of authority.

I had a chance to read the Koran in college, and didn't see many differences between it and the Holy Bible.
"99%" I'm sure is quite high, considering yahoo answers is but a minute part of the world population.

Okay, if one is going to write any numerical figure, percentage, ratio, etc, it's gotta be correct. Agreed?
I will say this though, many users in Y! Answers are anti-Muslim bigots, and unfortunately, aren't afraid to make @sses of themselves. They they look good when hurling very mean-spirited and TOTALLY UNEDUCATED replies, but they are sorely mistaken, for they look REALLY STUPID, because it's so apparent they know nothing about Islam but what's shown in the media. Lazy form of study.
If you look at other catories, though, you will find a lot of positive energy there. To get away from the negativity of R&S, I go to another category. Enjoy!

I doubt if it is 99% - how do you come by that figure?
There are Christians who take a grossly simplistic view of Muslims as the "enemy" and there are Muslims who take the same grossly simplistic view of Christians. Neither group of such people are worthy of the religions they profess to follow.
In recent times, the Muslim faith has suffered a massive Public Relations problem because of repeated acts of terrorism and/or proposed acts of terrorism in the name Islam.
All Muslims are not terrorists, but most terrorists in recent times have been Muslims. Therein lies your problem and your perception of racists and anti-Muslims.
Both Christians and Muslims have their fare share of fanatics, and they should all be rooted out for the sake of humanity.

I am sorry you think the numbers are that high, but you are wrong, I am not racist and I could care less about Muslims or people of any religion for that matter, all I want is to be left alone

They look at the popular media conception and don't look at each individual as a unique person. Are there bad muslims.. yes. But, there are also good and bad in every other belief system too. I can't speak for everyone else as that is not my place, but I will look at an individual's character before buying into what the mass media tells me.

Because of 9-11, Because Muslims danced with glee when the towers fell., Because the commit acts of war on their neighbors to try to force them to release people that have committed real crimes in Israel. Because even moderate Islamic countries Like Saudi Arabia sends millions of dollars to groups that have the destruction of the USA as their primary objective.... From where I stand Islam looks evil....Jim

My darling, stop feeling like a victim, 99% of the people on yahoo takes the "p*ss" out of every religious bunch. The world is changing and instead of the majority being trapped they're starting to open their eyes to their inner truth and not what has been pushed onto them. Just take it with a pinch of salt. I thought even you could see the funny side of it??

Well, Y!A is more than 1% Muslim, so unless a certain percentage of the Muslims here hate themselves, your assertion must not be true.
However, I'd say a good 50 - 75% of the people here are anti-Islamic.
There are several reasons why, but it's not that 'they haven't got a life'. It's just that they haven't got an education.
You get nowhere by fighting insults with insults.
