You can be a Christian, believing in Jesus as the Son of God without being taken in by all the balderdash being peddled by tele-evangalists. I can't understand why so many Americans are taken in by these money-grabbing parasites. Their pronouncements and in particular their strong political affiliations with the American administration seem to me to be about as far removed from the teachings of Jesus as you can get.

You don't know what you are talking about 99% of the ministers in local churches today do it for less than $25,000 a year. Most of these people have at least a masters degree. Do you know anyone with those kind of credentials that would except that kind of Money.. They don't enter or stay in the ministry out of greed that do it because they are called by God and He won't allow them to do anything else... Jim

Well, you see pastors and priests have to have money to live and so we give some money to them so that they can get food etc, and in return they have time to study and prepare to teach us how to understand what God knows and wants of us. Also the money isn't only for them it's also given to charities, poor people, and missionaries. I know this for a fact because my parents are missionaries in Senegal, and we get our support from our church in America and Holland, and different people. Without their support we couldn't be here.
I know that there are pastors and priest in this world who take advantage of the job and manipulate people to get lots of money by saying things that they want to hear and make them feel good. It's horrible! And so I believe your absolutely right that we should give money to those types of people.

seeker,
What did you say was wrong with you? You say you can't put a sentence together to save your life? Maybe by reading some books, or taking a class in school would help you with you problem. But that would only be one problem, huh?
How many Chirstians do you know? Would it surprise you that you are prejudiced in your view of what the average Christian does? I have never given to a televangelist. I never intend to give to a televangelist.
You really have to stop trying to be so dumb. You know, accomplish something that takes at least half a brain?

WHO SAYS CHRISTIANS ARE GETTING TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF BY PASTORS? NOT ALL PASTORS TAKE ADVANTAGE OF PEOPLE. THAT'S LIKE SAYING ALL BLACKS ARE CRIMINALS, AND THEIR NOT. THEIR ARE REALLY GOOD PASTORS OUT THERE. THE ONES WHO DO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF ANYONE THE LORD WILL BE EXTRA HARD ON THEM CAUSE THEY ESPECIALLY KNOW BETTER. BUT ALSO PASTORS HAVE TO GET PAID JUST LIKE ANYONE ELSE WITH A JOB. BEING A PASTOR IS NOT EASY. MY UNCLE IS A PASTOR OF A CHURCH AND HE DOES NOT MAKE ALOT OF MONEY, HE HASN'T FOR YEARS. PASTORS GET A SET SALARY. IF THEY WANNA BUY NICE THINGS FOR THEMSELVES AND THEIR FAMILY'S THEN THAT'S OK, THEY DESERVE TO HAVE SOME NICE THINGS.

I never gave any money to the tele evangelists. My Pastor doesn't make money from the money I give my church. It goes to helping whatever the church needs. Not in my Pastor's pocket.

First of all, I never send money to any televangelist. Secondly my pastor increases my faith in Christ, he doesn't take advantage of it. As a matter of fact am about to get ready for church so I can hear and learn more about Christ from him.

as a christian, i pay my tithe and offerings to the Lord as requires by Him. Once it is paid, it becomes the pastor or ministers responsibility to be accountable; not to me but to God. some of them get carried away and begin to take advantage of this and spend His resources on enriching themselves.
we dont allow them to take advantage of us. we pity and pray for those that have gone the way of Balaam and Judas to go after funds to profit themselves. and like this two men, they will pay for it.
please note that, not all of those you see on TV claiming to do the work of God where called by Him to the ministry. some came to do there own works. the Bible says " by their fruit, you shall know them."
God has made provision for His ministers to be fed from the tithes (see Malachi 3). all other offerings are meant entirely for the Lord. but since God does not spend or need money, how does He use the funds and offerings? it is used to maintain the house of the Lord, care for the needy, widows and fatherless.
if you spend Gods' money on vanity and personal gritification, you will spend eternity pating back.

I don't either. My donations go to maintaining the church, the school, and humanitarian causes. Our pastor lives on very little, and drives an old beater station wagon. He also has at least one master's degree.
