You could start out by honestly telling the children that the Aboriginal people did not invite the Europeans to come here. Nor did they ask for the Europeans to take over the management of the country, resources, or the people.

And NO I am not an Aboriginal person.... but I do think that honesty has long been forgotten where our history here in Australia is concerned.

Research dream time stories, some are a bit gruesome for little ones though, so be careful.

Get large pieces of bark, and get the children to do dot painting on them using cotton buds, with red, black, white, yellow, and orange paint.

Do aboriginal flag handprints. Paint the aboriginal flag onto the child's hand, then get them to print it onto the paper.

Set up a traditional aboriginal dramatic play area. Use a brown rug or sheet to represent the earth, make a fire, have bark pieces around, use playdough to make pretend witchetty grubs and berries for their food, make boomerangs and didgeridoos to put in there also. Set up a tent like area, for the humpy. I did this with my class, and they spent hours in there, and it produced some great play and conversations.

Dot paintings
Dreamtime stories -- read them, then have the children illustrate concepts like the rainbow serpent.
Music -- didgeridoos (use cardboard tubes perhaps), music sticks.

I feel very sorry for your students because you don't even know how to form a simple sentence. What has the world come to?

If in Australia, go out into bush, look for some genuine Ozzies, ask them and they will tell you.
