If marriage - and having children as a result of that marriage - is a sacred duty, why not use Jesus's birth as an example of that? Why, in fact, show us that the 'one sinless human' did _not_ come about as a result of holy matrimony? Was God trying to tell us that the union of husband and wife in inadequate to produce a 'sinless' human?
After all, if God can just create a foetus in a virgin's womb, certainly God could let a human sperm and a human ovum unite in the good old-fashioned way and, after that, imbue the result with divinity, couldn't He?
And wouldn't it send a more positive message about the sanctity of marriage?

lalulu1972, it's not _my_ 'stupid sanctity of marriage crap'; it's not my idea and it's not my book but I'm asking the question of those who _do_ believe in the Bible.

Basically sin entered the world first through a woman and the Savior entered the world through a woman only as well. It was a way to redeem women. We brought in the first sin and we were rewarded with bringing also salvation. An interesting note, It was Eve or Eva if you will follow, that brought the first original sin into being, and by Gabriels Ave{or Hail Mary as he said} that heralded the coming of salvation.

Jesus existed before the universe. He wasn't created in Mary's womb, He was placed there so He would have the entire human experience.
One of the prophesies that He fulfilled was to be born of a virgin. If Joseph would have been His REAL father, that would make God a liar and Jesus an imposter.
Also, what "makes sense" to us has little to do with God. Do the things you do make sense to your dog? My guess is that the dog just accepts the fact that you do what you do.
Please study God's Book. Perhaps you will gain understanding.

Being married is a sacred duty if you are called to that vocation.
Not all people are called to be married.
Many are called to live single lives and do so very nicely.
God could have done anything. Why God does most of the things he does has not been revealed to us.
However there are many positive examples of marriage in the Bible and millions positive examples of marriage throughout history and being lived today.
With love in Christ.

No. Jesus' birth was about faith, Mary's faith, love, God's love to the world and loyalty, when Joseph found out she was pregnant.
Jesus' first miracle was at a wedding- turning the water into wine.
And as far as the customs of the times- Joseph and Mary were married through the betrothal.

Because the Jesus story as commonly told is a myth. If he actually existed, he was born just like anyone else. It's unlikely his daddy was from the House of David (royalty), so Christians had to either ignore that, or invent a myth to explain it.
And, he would have never been referred to as "rabbi" or "master" if he had not been married himself.
The Jesus myth does not withstand scrutiny and why it is rejected as factual by most intelligent, educated people.

Im so tired of hearing about your stupid sanctity of marriage crap, look at the divorce rate. Look at the child abuse. Look at the abuse of women, the poverty, I could go on and on. There is no sanctity or morals anymore. Its pathetic. And christ has nothing to do with it,,,, obviously.

It would make sense, but since it is myth it makes sense why it is not presented in that manner.
