Reply to Buggynbooboo: why I'm looking for any response you care to give, whether you are a theist or an atheist, I'm always interested.

Reply to edsawyer: I see what you are saying, I also think that what is called strong atheism is sometimes closer to anti-theism and this would probably be my true position, however basic atheism as I see it is simply not sharing the beliefs of theists.
I don't think this needs to be the cause of splits as there is nothing very cohesive in atheism to be split.

Not particularly. What's not to know? They don't believe in God. How many different ways can you serve that dish?

3, 4, and 5 are all typical comments that we hear right here on Y!A about five times a day. They are insidious, hateful and well-answered here.

However, as refers 1 and 2, I think Gleeson is just as guilty of mischaracterisation as the theists he condemns. What he is describing is _weak_ atheism. He denies the existence of _strong_ atheism - which is ludicrous. Of course there are strong atheists. This is, in my opinion, no better than a Protestant who says Catholics aren't Christian.

As atheists, we need to be 'groupers'; not 'splitters', or we make the same mistake as the theists. I don't want to hear an atheist telling me 'what atheists think' anymore than I want to hear a theist doing the same thing. Our tent needs to be wide enough to accept all freethinkers and sceptics. We can't be trying to bring people in through the front door while pushing others out the back door.

No, I'm an atheist and the subject is kind of boring since there isn't much to discuss. :-)

But, I answered so you would have at least one answer.

Atheism, the only logical choice.

You remind me of those Jehova's Witnesses...You know the ones throwing their faith in your face against your own will?
