Why is water going on the face? Just be careful. Cotton wool in the ears and a better aim with the water.

My mum always used a special shield that she got from mothercare. Theyre also available in boots etc.
Basically its ring shaped with elastic around the middle.
You just put it round the head and the waterproof material prevents the water from running down your face.

You don't need equipment .. i worked at a hairdressers and all you need is your hand, keep it just infront of the hair in a cupping style, your hand will catch all the water .. but you need a lot of practice .. i didn't get it properly until my 10th turn but it does work and it's free!

LOL, do they make funny faces while this happens? i would aim better next time and put a towel over their face unless you like seeing the odd faces they make.

I always give my kids a dry washcloth to hold over their eyes. Maybe that'd work for you too.
