I have a friend who owns a cattery and she regularly has a family of cats for the whole summer as their owner goes out on the fishing trawlers during the summer and then stays home in the winter. They soon settle and are happy.
Do check that it is a good cattery that they have sneeze barriers between cages are generally clean and have some sort of cooling arrangements fans or ac for the summer or heating in the winter. and that they feed the food the cats are used to.

When you find a cattery you think will be OK, just call in unannounced, to inspect. the premises........
If they are reluctant to show you around, be very wary.
Any place that needs to know in advance that you are coming, and insists on an appointment time, could need to "clean up" and make sure any not so nice practices, are not visible to you......
Just a tip, from experience.........
Also, take your time to look around, and watch the carer's attitude with the animals, it can tell you a lot....
Good luck.

Well it depends on the cattery, but yes a month will not harm them,, just make sure its a good one, keep them in the house for a bit when you get them back,, just to get them use to your ways again,,,,,

As long as you get the right one - mine were ok as they had food, water and were even given a tv in their run(!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) to keep them company (only problem is that they are now addicted to daytime tv - joke). I've never left them more than a fortnight, but they don't measure time like us - although they always know when I'm coming home from work, so I'll take that back.

I have had to do that myself. Check for references. I have seen some places that looked great but were not safe. Good luck to you and your kitty.
