Absinthe originated in France, is a drink distilled from wormwood and 14 different herbs. This ancient drink carries with it a mystique which in the past has inspired artists and poets because it can cause hallucinations.

Sale of absinthe is prohibited in USA; but it is still available in some Balkan countries (Czech, Slovenia, Serbia etc) At various airports in Germany and France (duty free shops) I saw bottles of absinthe liquor. The percentage of alcohol in absinthe liquor is greatly reduced than in the real absinthe.

its a spirit, you don't make it.
unless you want the fancy way with the burnt sugar and the spoon and what not.
i've seen it a few times. they pour some into a glass, get a sugar cube and dip it in the liquor. they put the sugar cube in a spoon and balance it over the glass. they light the sugar on fire and leave it for a while then they just mix the flamed sugar into the rest of the alcohol.
take caution though, it's like 70% alcohol. i hope you can handle it - otherwise don't try it. i hear alot of bad stories.
good luck and god bless

Wormwood (artemsia absinthea and a. pontica)
fennel
anise
melissa (lemon balm)
coriander

and unaged grape brandy

Part of the herbs are steeped for 1-4 weeks, it's distilled, and the remaining herbs are steeped for another 1-2 weeks.

You can buy absinthe extract kits. All you do is mix the small bottle in with 25 ounces of cheap vodka and you're good to go.

If you are really good, you can order it from overseas and get it directly shipped to your house. It may wind up costing about as much to make it as it would to get it passed through customs and to your house. Watch out though, according to Mulan Rouge, that stuff will have you seeing little green fairies and stuff...
