I’m getting Sky+ installed on Friday & was fortunate enough to get the box & installation for free & with 6 months at ½ price. After trawling through various forums I’m really none the wiser on what to look out for when it comes to a good quality Sky+ installation, I already have a standard Sky box & I know that the LNB needs upgrading on the dish but what would your pointers be to check before the engineer leaves?

you are getting a new installation.. that should include the dish/lnb... the engineer will make sure everything is ok before he goes... make him a cup of tea and be friendly to him,and he might leave you some spares..........

Make sure that the remote has been syncronised with the TV so that you can adjust the volume / turn the TV on and off with your Sky remote. Also check that all of the wiring has been secured properly (inside and outside the house) as although this is minor, it is a pain and looks messy if there are wires flapping about !!

I wouldn't bother, we have had it for a year now.
Had the box changed once, it just stopped working and we had a week before they sent someone out.
The new box keeps locking up, so we have to turn it off and on again, and it often fails to record a program fully.
Thinking of getting NTL

I have sky + make sure you have a good signal, ask the engineer if you have any questions or worries, it's great for recording stuff. The engineer that came out to me was very helpful with my questions.
