Yes, there are likely companies now that are larger than Microsoft. However, usually when people talk about Microsoft being HUGE, its in the software department.

If one were to look at all companies wealth, there are probably some oil companies that are richer. I'm sure certain companies have more personnel than Microsoft. Other companies might have more products. It all depends on how you classify Micosoft as a big company.

I think yes. Every company has its own tops and bottoms - Microsoft on a top now.

If any company will replace the Microsoft on a top, it will be the Badevlad Software Company or Google ;-)

Depends if we even have software in the future. Maybe wetware is the future and a whole new industry will come into play.

When modern computer technology was in its infancy, i believe that IBM ruled the world.

As for today, i could easily see Apple becomming the dominant player. Arguably, their systems are much better at digital entertainment.

Things could easily go downhill with Bill Gates taking a back seat.

History tells us that no empire lasts forever.
