I have known this guy for three years and I am crazy about him. I confessed my love to him and said that I wanted nothing to change between us. My best friend said that he likes me too, but I don't know if he really does. Now things are weird between us. What do I do to make us normal around each other again?

like everyone else in the world will tell you, be honest
ask him to be honest and tell the truth, is he just saying he likes you back so he doesn't break your heart, or is he really shooting to make this work?
it will be incredibly hard to confont him, i'm not gonna say 'just tell him' because i haven't even told my friend i like him alot as well, fear of rejection of course and that it might change our status from friends to something even lower
but in due time, if you write him a letter, send an email, ask on the phone, or if you are brave enough, confront him face to face about whats going on, dont just try to wait it out because it might cause drifting and even more awkwardness.

Well, right off the bat, you sent a very mixed message. Telling someone that you're crazy about them, that you love them, but you don't want anything to change is going to leave anyone confused. He's going to be scratching his head, thinking "Well, if I do like her, I can't tell her, because that'll change things, and she said she didn't want anything to change between us. So we'll be stuck being just friends, even though we both love each other. But if I don't like her, then I'm going to have to continue on knowing she's crazy about me, but still wants to be friends, which will make it really tough if I want to date some other girl, because I'll know it'll be hurting her to know I'm dating someone else instead of her. So what am I supposed to say or do?"
It's not really fair to say "I want nothing to change between us" after tossing something like that in the air. Instead, you need to phrase it in terms of how much you respect him, and how much you value your friendship with him, even if he doesn't feel the same way about you; but you'd be happy if he did find he had similar feelings for you.
The one downside is that it leaves you open for manipulation; hopefully he's someone you can trust, because otherwise it would be fairly easy to say he loves you too, knowing he can take easy advantage of you that way.
But if you feel you can trust him, clarify what you meant when you were talking to him, so he'll better understand what you meant when you said you wanted nothing to change, and see if that helps reduce some of the confusion on his part.

Now that he knows your thoughts and feelings are towards him...let your friendship with him remain. What he would love right now would be for him to have sometime to himself to think about what you have shared. Obviously he was quite suprised in a nice way but did not know how to respond. If he really does like you in return and he is ready to develop your friendship to something more...he will take the leadership to do so. The ball is now in his court...he has to use his discernment and make a choice. Give him the freedom that he needs. Love him and accept him for what ever decisions that he may make. Protect and guard your heart and his...this is very important!

It may be that he thought of you as a buddy-type person and it took him off guard that you felt that way about him. Give him some time to adjust to the concept.
