You're damned right I tremble...

I tremble knowing that people like bungyow (who says "they are completely blind! Not even knowing that there going to hell, not smart enough to b e scared YET!") may actually have, one day, a position of power over me in the secular world.

The good people of the USA have already elected to the highest position in the world somebody who sincerely believes that I will go to hell while he, despite all of the damage he has done to the world, will cruise into his god's loving arms at the end of the day.

Okay, fine - whatever. The problem here is what happens when these people try to use their skewed worldview to enact laws to that effect - criminalisation of abortion, marriage rights, science in the classroom, scientific research...

_That's_ when I start to tremble in fear...

I have no fear of God. But I have fear of his fan club.

If you are afraid of something that you don't believe exists, there is something wrong with you upstairs. Atheists don't tremble in fear when Christian's preach the fear of God because they don't believe in God. And to those Christians that think like this I've got news for you... its supposed to be the LOVE of God that is supposed to draw people to your religion, not FEAR but as you are merely humans I will do what Jesus did and forgive you.

Only Christians rejoice in the fear of God and the fear of death and the fear of sex! Christianity keeps the Christians on their paranoid, guilt-ridden, fearful toes! Atheists don't fear any of those things, because they don't have any reason to fear! It's a guilt-free existence, one that allows man to be his/her true self, without the dread of being human! So go ahead, Christians, Catholics, and ANY religion: keep on fearing and thumping that Bible, spreading guilt and hatred of self to anyone you please! Some will buy that crap, others won't--it all depends on how you want your one and only life to be lived! I will lead the life that pleases me, but I will be the best person that I can be as a moral human being--IT IS POSSIBLE to be godless and moral at the same time!! I simply refuse to spend my life worrying about something that's not going to happen! In the fraction-of-a-chance that I'm wrong, I will still have lived a good life. And if that's not enough for a god, he didn't want me in the first place!!

The same reason that Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims, Jews, deists, agnostics, etc. don't tremble. There are over 5 billion people alive today who don't care about the preachings of christians. In the 300,000 years before Jesus, people didn't know or care about it either.

Why would you want to be afraid of God anyway. If God is good and loves you there should be no fear whatsoever.

Do you ever sit quietly and analyze realistically what you know, feel and read about God? You should try it sometime

the truth is they are not going to tremble at what they do not beleive, maybe it would be better to share the Gospel with them before putting the fear of God into them

I have two general reactions:

Amusement or contempt, depending on the approach used by the wannabe God speaker.

Hard to be fearful of imaginary entities.

Because men love darkness rather than light becuase their ways were wicked. They have no desire to know God, no desire for salvation, and no desire to repent from their evil ways. They love the darkness because it allows them to do whatever they want. But the day will come when the Light of God will be revealed to all, when Jesus returns, and they will have to account for their actions. The Bible says, don't cast your pearls to swine. Preach the gospel and if they are unwilling to hear it, dust your feet of, and keep going.
