From the Christian viewpoint...at the open trial of the Christ, Pilate asked the crowd to choose between Barabbas or Jesus to be set free.
The mob in his courtyard paid by the Edomite Jew High Priests cried our "Give us Barabbas"!!
When Pilate interceded on Jesus' behalf the crowd cried out..."Let the blood of this man be upon our heads and our children's heads"...and so they pronounced a chilling generational curse upon their own race...
That was the specific phrase from the Gospel that the Jews forced Mel Gibson to delete from his script's screenplay and it is 100% Biblical but he reluctantly acquiesced.
Jews hated Gibsons movie.."The Passion" nevertheless, it's History and their efforts to try and revise it is further proof of it's validity !!!
So they have been reviled down through ages...driven out and persecuted across the Earth. That's one reason.
Of course a Jew will give you a completely different take on the subject.

Huh? Jews are still persecuted because it is easy to lump people together and blame something that complicated on them. But frankly, the grand reason is that everybody, all people, are stupid frightened sheep that will follow anybody's lead. So say bah next time you make a blanket statement or blindly buy something because someone told you it was going to work.

From a Christian point of view: In history, before the Messiah was prophosied to appear, the Jews were in many wars that they lost. The times that they won with victoriously is when they were obediant and pleasing GOD. The same is true today, we will prove victorious in battle when we prove that GOD is on our side
