sure it's OK.
Best thing is dog keeping your feet extra warm in the winter.
Worst thing is dog keeping your feet extra warm in the summer, or occasionally waking up with a terrible back pain and finding out the pain is caused by the tennis ball the dog brought to bed.

Our dog does. It's OK as long as your dog doesn't have fleas, ticks or sheds too much. Even if you use anti-tick/flea, the fleas will jump off the dog and get into the bedding and onto you. If the dog sheds too much brush or get a shedder, depending on your dog's type of coat. You might want to get your dog an inside kennel - they usually like them and most dogs need to get away for quiet time and to sleep. You can put old blankets (whatever) in the kennel and favorite toys.

It must be because there are probably over a 5 million dogs in the U S sleeping on their owners beds.
Worse things: Dog might wake you up if it has a nightmare.
Dog might give you some of its flees. Dog might smell bad.
best things: Dog might protect you against an intruder, if it is a Doberman or a German Shepard.

I think it's okay under the following conditions:
The dog is completely housetrained and over 8 months old
The dog is large enough that if you rolled over you wouldn't kill it
The dog is well-trained and gets off the bed on command
Our dogs fit all these requirements and they do sometimes sleep in bed with us. But they also have their own beds that they sleep in if they feel like it or if we just don't want any dogs in the bed.

My dogs sleep in my bed-They get up and down a few times a night. Worst thing is one is a mastiff. She takes up a lot of room. They usually end up on the floor by morning though. Snoring can be annoying too.

As long as you have no issues, it should be OK. The down sides are if he gets fleas, or goes swimming in a smelly pond. You get the fleas or smells on your bed. The other issue is that over time, some people develop allergies to their pet because of the dander. If you are allergy prone, avoid it.
My dog is allowed on the bed, but he won't sleep there. He has his favorite spot.

It is not 100 % OK.... But if you keep the fellow washed and brushed - clean as a whisker - then the consiquesces are much less.
Best is - a very good cmpanion and no body would get near you - sleep till end of time.
Bad - Little bit of furr during a period of time - end up in Asthma

It's great if you like your dog and at least it's another warm body in bed. But I don't do it anymore because I have small dogs that can't hold their urine. So, the worst thing is when the dog wakes up and pees on your bed.

Sure it's OK to allow your dog to sleep in your bed,...unless the dog has fleas, ringworm or some other parasite that can effect people too.
My dog sleeps in my bed near me all the time, she watches the door for me (I sleep during the day) We also take excellent care of our dogs and take great care to keep them parasite free.
