Get your boots and macs on and go for a walk. Let them splash in puddles and have fun. Let them experience rain even though they may come back filthy! I took my kids to the woods the other day in the rain and let them explore, play hide and seek, roll down steep parts and they said it was the best day ever! Believe it or not if you let them have the experience, kids do like the simple things. (And believe me mine have all the mod cons at home and toys galore). If that's not for you then do you have a Wacky Warehouse near you? They are pubs with huge play areas inside. I went yesterday and it's only £2 each for them to play and they cater for babies up to around 10 year olds. You don't have to eat there either. I would say swimming but you need at least another adult with you so why not ask your partner or friend to tag along. It must be a nightmare entertaining 5 kids. That's why I only had two because I wouldn't be able to afford to do anything if I did!

have a little party! make a bit of an effort to get the kids dressed up and put on a little picnic and have some party games. this will keep them entertained no end. have some dancing and pass the parcel with some silly treats like chocolate and crayons! as long as they are kept active they will have a great time! and at the end of the party you can pretend to have a bit of a slumber party and get them all bathed and into pyjamas and let them all sit round the tv with their blankets and watch a nice family movie. they will have loads of fun and sleep well after a really eventful day! good luck and i hope it all goes well!

It's easy to say, watch something on TV together. So do that. Games are fine, but it's hard to control five kids all at once. Watch something like the Little Mermaid or Care Bears. It's probably best if you don't watch Amityville Horror.

The best places to go are those indoor play centres, with ball pools and climbing equipment, if your lucky enough to have one close by check they do food and drinks and will have a separate area for the little ones, my 15 month loves these places, she can run around with other children, throw herself around and I know she is safe. They'll burn lots of energy off aswell, so will be tired after it, you'll find you'll be able to get a coffee too so sit back have a coffee and watch your children go wild. good luck

heres something we use to do when we were kids and bored as...we would grab a huge space and set up chairs and use blankets to create makeshift tents we would have pot plants around to make it like we were outside use lanterns etc and have marsh mellows, tell stories and just laugh, cups of hot cocoa and using the imagination is awesome before you know it you've passed a couple of hours and if you want to go the whole hog , get out cowboy hats and do Indians and face paining etc..

Painting, playing with play dough, baking cakes together, dressing-up, drawing and making masks, making glitter pictures, reading together (for a pause), puddle-hopping (my equivalent for getting messy in puddles), playing at guess the drawing, blowing balloons up and bouncing them to each other (preferablly in the bedroom), go to the local natural history museum (if its not too far), leave them a bit to rummage around in toy chests they always end up finding things to do themselves ...

Play picture games, colouring in, puzzles, building blocks, pin the tail on the donkey, read them a story, name that item.
