Personally I do not think so. (btw, I am not a muslim),
What could have given some people the perception that Islam is exerting its influence in our world could be the incidents that had happened over recent years.
Muslim protests that erupted all over the world became eye opening and it was due to the sensitivity of their belief.
Tolerance in different religions varies very widely and I feel Islam is somewhat less. However, I do respect that.

I believe if everyone has mutual respect for each other (politically or not) , the world would be more peaceful....unfortunately ...it is not heading in this direction.

Dear Matt, Technically we believe that the Lord Almighty rules the World in any case. Islam means obedience to God. In our view when the World will obey God, then and only then the Kingdom of God shall be established on Earth and people will have true peace.

However, the Kingdom of God can not be imposed from without, but has to rise from within the hearts. If not, the Quran says in 10:99 "If Allah wanted to, all nations would be Muslim. Would you then use force?". This verse was revealed in response to some of the companions of the Prophet, who earnestly felt that Islam was so good, that it may be imposed on others with the intention of doing good to them, thus they felt forcing Islam on others would be acceptable. Ironically this did happen after the Prophet in spite of this verse in some areas of the world!

Ultimately if you force the "will" of God, when God Himself has given people the freedom to choose to obey or disobey him and He is very much capable of implementing His WILL, thank you very much, you are pretending somehow that you are more powerful than God or that God somehow needs you when in fact he is very much independent of what we can or can not do for Him or even for ourselves.

We can only obey Him. He is all powerful, which is well expressed in the statement ALLAHU AKBAR, that the LORD ALMIGHTY is the STRONGEST the GREATEST!!

Muslim rulers from time to time have used Islam to establish their legitimacy or to satisfy their greed in expanding their empire or control and have time and again used gullible Muslims into believing that they are fighting for Islam when in most cases they were fighting to satisfy the insatiable greed of their leader(s).

Lastly, in my personal opinion, an Islam that is forced on people is scum. YOU do not force your money or knowledge on anyone. Why would you force something lofty such as obedience to the ALMIGHTY on anyone? Those who will attempt to be greater than God shall be belittled by the Almighty!!

I hope this answers your question.

There's no evidence that those that practice Islam have had any territorial ambition since the thirteenth, fourteenth century..The current issues are all associated with the conflict between the Israelis and Palestinians.Resolve that situation and all the other problems will go away.

niether Allah nor islam has ever said go behead someone if they do not convert.

it is a misconception that islam teaches to kill. jihad is not a Holy war against some1 of opposit faith.it is a holy war to overcome the faults in oneself.

islam has said that when u are opressed, take a stand and protect urself. because both the opressor and opressed are sinning by not protecting their families.
