No, I don't like the name for what it connotes. "Lucifer" in and of itself is a nice-sounding name. However, because of the infamy BEHIND that name and all that it represents, is it in your child's best interest to give him that name? Of course, it'd be just as short-sighted to name him "Sue" or "X95" or "Lampshade," although either of those names might be preferable to Lucifer.

Naming him "Lucifer" could doom him to a lifetime of rejection, ridicule and all-around wariness which could instill him with an overall anger towards humanity that could result in his becoming a serial murderer. It'd be good for newspaper and magazine headlines, and perhaps a show on A&E, but would you really WANT that for your son?

Although you and your wife agree, please reconsider.

Actually I believe that there was only one child born on 06/06/06...and it was a girl. So I guess that blows your whole little spoof out of the water anyway...
But I have no problem with the name Lucifer...I know, I know the religous aspect; but Lucifer means "light bearer" or "morning star"...and King Lucifer of Babylon was one heck of a King.
But I wouldn't name any of MY children Lucifer...just because there are some nuts out there that would try to kill him, or worship him...which just isn't a good thing.

Lucifer basically means, "the Light of God" and so it is a beautiful name - too bad some religions mistakenly considered God's light (which was sent out to follow man when he separated from God - to help find the way back) to be "evil" "the devil" or some other nonsense. I'm guessing you bought into that as well, considering you chose the name based on the date of the birth of your son.

Too bad, it is a good name though.

There are already too many answers to this, but for what it's worth, I think 'Lucifer' is a beautiful name. It means 'bringer of light', which is a very positive message to give to a child. There is actually a St. Lucifer, so the 'taboo' against the name in the church is clearly a recent invention.

It's okay to name your son Lucifer because there's nothing wrong with that name. As a matter of fact, Lucifer means "bringer of light" so why would that be a bad thing? Sure it reminds you of the demon but hey, doesn't it give your son something like...dual personality? I mean, the name is usually associated with the devil but at the same time it means bringer of light... Your son is a living irony.... ^__^

I hope you're aware that you're setting the kid up for a world of pain.

I worked with a guy named Damien. When he was a kid, other childrens' parents wouldn't let them play with him. You can guess why.

(Hint: A certain movie that was released around the time he was born.)

He's going to be pretty miserable on the playground at school - everybody's going to want to pick on Lucifer. Also, what happens when you have to yell after him in a public place like the mall? Do you shout out, "Come here Lucifer!" ~ people are going to look at you as if you've lost a few marbles.

Be prepared for your son to lead a miserable life when he reaches school. You don't really think the other kids are going to leave him be once they hear his name? If you think the real Lucifer knows all about torment, then you have no idea what kids at school are capable of! For the sake of your kid's mental health, please re-think your decision. Go well and God Bless!
