Wouldn't it be more commendable to live for somthing rather than die for it?? Once your dead thats all you can do. If Jesus had lived he could have taught us a lot more and kept his church from being peverted into what it is today. I know that some will take offence to this. I do not mean it that way. If you truly believe in somthing wouldn't it make more sense to live for it?? If one group lives for something and another wants to die for somthing who will win??

I would think so. This is an issue that has had my brain since I was a little kid. Patton said "No bastard ever won war by dying for his country. He won it by making the other poor, dumb bastard die for HIS country."

Jesus had to die to accomplish our redemption, so he wasn't really in the same class with other martyrs.

The word martyr actually means witness.

The real martyrs were the men and women who bore witness to the truth of the Christian faith in Rome, and elsewhere, and who were brutally killed because of it.

But God did not let them shed their blood in vain, because the entire Roman empire was eventually converted.

As for your comments about the "peverted" church (your spelling) which remains holy and still belongs only to God himself, I hope, for your sake, that God takes no offense.

the question is not what u can get but what u give. by living on jesus could have lived n been happy being known as the saviour and the king but he died bcoz what he wanted was that god almighty forgive all his children on earth.
also, while alive jesus reached out to many, but it was only after his death that he ruled the world

Jesus had left for a reason, but it's not like he's gone. he's still here in a different, complicated way. sometimes we all need to learn things on our own. this way we experience independance and consequences. i just wanted to say, Jesus did the right thing leaving.

He wanted to live but he was not allowed to live and move around telling the people against falsehood. He was killed by those people whose vested interest in that society was hampered by the teachings of truth by Jesus.

Sometimes, risking your life is all you can do. Think of the Christians who hid Jews in their homes. They knew that if they were caught, they would be killed. Yet, in order to help the people in need, they hid the Jews. Also, when already captured as a prisoner, it is better to stand for your faith and die rather than renounce God and live. Jesus said (paraphrased): If you accept me in front of man, I will accept you in front of my father, but if you deny me in front of man, I will deny you in front of my father.

All the knowledge in the world cannot save you. Jesus had to die because even what he taught us, we could only adhere to temporarily.

His death sealed something much more permanent, and that is redemption by His blood.

He himself said that His words sometimes fall on infertile soil. But his blood cleanses us forever.
