Less calories, more exercise is the formula. Sorry to say, if I can work 40 hours week, lifting and transfering patients, and walking and being on my feet an entire shift ,and still exercise, so can you. And I am 2 1/2 times your age. I do not say that with meaness, I mean if I can, you can.The more you can exercise, the less tired you are, the more energy you have. Do some upper body strengthening, and exercises.
Watch your portion sizes, watch the actual calories going in. For example, my book says that a 2 1/2 inch apple has 60 calories in it.So imagine what one of those huge Delicious apple that come in fancy fruit baskets might have. 2 or 3 times that.
Try a light beer, and drink a glass, not a bottle full.
Forget fast food or restaurant food. The temptation to eat those huge portions is too great.
The latest info is that milk drinkers lose more weight than non-milk drinkers.
Fill up on foods and drinks with next to no calories. Eat a balanced diet, use the food pyramid. If you eliminate foods, you will eventually crave them, and there goes the diet.
Get a good friend to exercise with you. I am bored during exercise, so I turn on the TV. The experts say not to do that, you'll watch the TV and slack off on the exercises, but that is not true with me. I stay at it longer 'cause I'm not as bored. I just started an exercise routine, an I can already see a major difference in how I feel and what I can do.
Good luck, and by the way, lose the weight for you, so you feel good about yourself. If you feel good about yourself, you will be more successful, and feel sexier for the boyfriend..

There's more going on here than just beer drinking. Were you an athlete in high school? (and now you're not nearly as active?)
What's it called, the "freshman 7", or something like that, because the average college freshman gains 7 lbs? Lifestyle changes can really affect how much you can eat (and be able to maintain your weight).
(Oh, and there's nothing wrong with dairy foods, in moderation. Just drink light or skim milk, not that whole fat stuff.)
The other thing that could be going on is a drop in your metabolism. That happens when you exercise less, and as you age. Women seem to complain about how dramatic this change can be, though they usually cite a big change in their 30's.
But in short, its a simple equation: you need less calories coming in than you're burning. Its a whole lot eaiser to achieve this if you exercise, because that keeps you're metabolism up through much of the day, not just during the exercise itself. Also, the more muscle mass you have, the more calories you burn, even if you're just sitting on the couch.

Hi Kate,
You're doing the right things, but still have some bad habits to drop to expect the weight to drop too. Stop drinking beer period. No carbonated drinks, including carbonated water. It makes your belly fat. Ever see an old fart at the bar drinking beer? He has skinny legs, skinny arms and a big *** belly. The killer is that belt he thinks is slimming him down, but only defines the belly. Hence, beer belly.
Cutting out anything white is good. Now how to gain more energy? Try setting your clock 30 minutes ahead of schedule and work out in the morning. Start off with stretching and breathing. Inhale in drawing air into your nose. Exhale while blowing it out of your mouth. You don't need fancy gym equipment. You can start with a broom handle and put that across your shoulders holding on with your hands.
Do simple twists. Try windmills, lay on your back with your legs bent, fold your arms behind your head or stretch them out to the sides and lift your upper body toward your knees. You may feel a little burning, but that means you're doing something good. You'll feel it the next day. Go easy, but stretch. Drink plenty of water and get at least 7 hours of sleep. You will see results in as little as 2 weeks. I promise, it works. You can find specific exercises online or on your local cable or dsl tv.
Don't take any over-the-counter pills or miracle shakes. It's all bs. Eat smart and exercise more. That's the best diet in the world. Believe it or not, after exercising in the morning you will feel more exhilarated and energized. It's a great feeling! Also note, all women should be taking a multi-vitamin. Nothing fancy or expensive, Centrum is good. Check them out and pick the one that's right for you.
Take care.

Hi
This really helps as I lost quite a bit of weight following this programme so here goes,
If you are serious about losing weight, the calories in the food you eat should be less than the energy you use. You will have to increase your metabolic rate now, and plan your diet carefully.
Formulate your own weight loss plan and you will lose weight faster. More details available at http://tinyurl.com/m7ckx
Good Luck

Actually, you're in luck. The excercise you get waiting tables is sufficient. That's part one. Part two is this. Start taking three or four tablets or capsules of L-ORNITHINE daily. It's an amino acid that has the curious property of turning 25 pounds of fat into 6 pounds of muscle. Meaning a net loss of 19 pounds per month. The 6 pounds of muscle is distributed, your body will be toned up and that's it. You'll be buff again. It's a tad expensive but what do you care? I mean, a months supply will cost you maybe $40.
If you can't get L-ornithine (health food stores either in the real world or online), then get ARGININE. Our bodies take arginine and turn it into L-ornithine.
One more thing. Eat three meals a day. If you skip meals, the body thinks you're starving and it will begin converting your food intake INTO FAT. If you eat normally, it will just burn it up normally.

1) Wake up early to work out for 1 hour daily before going to work.
This would prevent you from making excuses about work fatigue. You can try cycling for an hour. Running can hurt your joints if you are to heavy.
2) Eat no more than 2000 calories a day.

I hate to say it, bcuz im a drinker myself, but the alcohol really does slow down your metabolism...I know, kid;..but i think i've figured out that my drinking is keeping my weight where it is. Not only does it slow you down metabolicaly, but it can give u water-weight gain. Trust me, I know. You are being good to yourself for not eating those "bad" things; congratulations on that!Thank yourself for trying so hard and doing a really good job on staying healthy. I would give u an A+.......let it ride, though; it can take time. Also remember confidence. Confidence is sooo sexy; try to be cool with yourself and you will win all of their hearts....

Drink lots of water. It'll help with hangovers too.
Lower the portions of what you've been eating. Even by a little will make a big difference.
